Our degree in Computer Science and Technology is designed for students seeking a broad yet rigorous grounding in this innovative discipline, with a strong emphasis on experimental computer science. The programme aims to provide students with the knowledge and skills required to be a computing professional. In particular, it aims to develop graduates equipped to work effectively in a professional software and systems development environment and at all stages of the product lifecycle.

You will receive BSc (Hons) Computer Science from Lancaster University and BEng Computer Science and Technology from Beijing Jiaotong University after you successfully complete this programme.

Course Structure

Undergraduate programmes at LUC-BJTU have a first year designed to help improve your level of English and to give you the study skills you will need to complete your degree. You will also learn some Chinese language with some cultural modules.

Following a broad second year introducing key concepts of Computer Science, your studies will become more specialised in years three and four.

You will learn through lectures, practical sessions and in small-group tutorials. A range of dedicated laboratory space is provided equipped with a variety of platforms to give you access to the technology you need for projects and coursework.

In your final year you will design and complete a project with support from your lecturers.


International students: during the first year of each programme, some of the modules studied will vary from those listed here. The modules are developed especially for international students to enhance your time studying with Lancaster University College, Beijing Jiaotong University. You will also learn some Chinese language with some cultural modules.
